LSA 108: Data management for field linguistics

This course will survey the management of data collected during field work, from its organization in the field to its mobilization as linguistic resources for speaker communities and other scholars. Topics will include workflow in the field, maintenance of appropriate metadata, strategies for ensuring your data can be best preserved for future generations, and how to structure databases in ways that maintain the integrity of your data while facilitating its repurposing for use by other parties.
