Mary Bucholtz

LSA 315: Sociolinguistics of style

Mary Bucholtz is professor of linguistics at UC Santa Barbara. A specialist in sociocultural linguistics (the interdisciplinary study of language, culture, and society), she works on issues of language, identity, and style, with a particular focus on gender and sexuality, race and ethnicity, and youth. She received her Ph.D. in linguistics from UC Berkeley in 1997.
