LSA 317: Structure and function in signed languages

Terry Janzen is Associate Professor and Department Head, Department of Linguistics, University of Manitoba. He has a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of New Mexico. Terry's research focuses on morphosyntax, clause structure, and the grammatical coding of signer perspective in ASL discourse. He also looks at grammatical mechanisms in ASL discourse that encode varying degrees of topicality, and grammaticization in signed languages. Terry is also an interpretation theorist and studies intersubjectivity in the interpreting process and the role of contextualization in the interpreter's texts.
