John J. Ohala

LSA 230: Sound change in the laboratory

John J. Ohala received his Ph.D. in Linguistics from UCLA in 1969 (dissertation directed by Peter Ladefoged). He has been on the Berkeley faculty since 1970 and served as Director of the Phonology Laboratory from 1975 to 2004; he retired in June 2004. Ohala has done guest teaching in various US universities and in Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Morocco, Russia, South Africa, and Venezuela.
