Devyani Sharma
LSA 201: Bilingualism
Devyani Sharma (Ph.D. Stanford University, 2003) is a lecturer at Queen Mary University of London and has also taught at King's College London. Her research focuses on bilingualism, sociolinguistics, syntax, and typology, and she has conducted fieldwork in California, India, and London. She has worked on various aspects of contact and bilingualism, including new dialect formation, cross-linguistic comparisons of language transfer, and formal modeling of syntactic variation. She is currently principal investigator in a project examining the relative effects of cognitive and social factors on inter-generational dialect change in a bilingual community.
